BackgroundThe Herb Society is based at a famous house called Sulgrave Manor where the ancestors of the first US president, George Washington, once lived. We have set aside some space there for a children's herb garden which can be used by visitors to Sulgrave Manor. Please let us have your designs. You may work by yourself or with a friend. The competition is open to UK schools including children who are taught at home.

Make a rough sketch to show the layout of the garden using only the plan of the children’s garden plot. Then draw on the features you will include, for example, the layout of the beds etc. Then, make a scale plan of the children’s garden on squared paper. Refer to herb books, the Internet and the Herb Society Schools’ Web Site for suggestions on which herb plants to use. Think carefully about which plants you are going to use.
